Adam Kinzinger's concise summary.

I broke with the Republican party in 2003, after I saw religion employed rather than what was right in my personal and professional life, as well as at a national level. I voted Democratic in 2004, volunteered for a campaign in 2006, and by 2010 I was among the leaders of a group doing a rear guard defense of forty four House, Senate, and Gubernatorial races.

The last fifteen years I’ve faced a steady flow of right wing law enforcement corruption that culminated in a frivolous lawsuit from an FBI informant, and then the murder of one of my codefendants, wherein a member of the Proud Boys “Eldar Chapter” is the prime suspect.

I’ve been saying We’re Gonna Fight since some time in 2017, and explicitly writing there here starting in February of 2024. Barbara F. Walter talking about Our Oncoming Civil War is the top favorited post here and Civil War 2.0 Begins, on June 10th, seems fairly prescient, given Fake Cop Shooting Democratic Legislators was just four days later.

It is good that Adam is speaking up, but I think it’s a bit late. We’re going to be doing some reading here for third quarter this year, I’m not sure what we’ll call it, but it’ll be something like “Recognizing Modern Civil War”. There are three books that are required to participate fully:

The Insurgent’s Dilemma by David H. Ucko, so we can get all the way clear of notions rooted in our first civil war.

Reinventing Collapse - the Dmitry Orlov book by that specific title, and a followup The Five Stages of Collapse, are useful for understanding what post-Imperial America might look like.

So listen to Adam, and if you’ve reached Your Personal Rubicon, maybe go out and do something about it. As I stated in Mourning Mankind I’ve sorta accepted defeat - none of what mattered most to me is getting done. Maybe you young people can see a way around it, but I’ve given up on the big picture. I’ll still make observations, I’ll transfer some tradecraft, but I don’t have it in me to direct any of you into situations from which you may not return.
