The civil war was never definitively decided, the ideologies that inspired it still persist and have festered in the open but largely unacknowledged until today. Historians may say that Round Two of the civil war began on January 20, 2025. Hopefully the Union will prevail again but this time, in a definitive manner where federal control will eradicate confederate policy from the cultural fabric of the states.

Failing that, perhaps the blue state/red state paradigm will finally lead to two nations, the United States of America, a thriving democracy that continues to thrive and lead progressive thought, and the Confederated States of America a backward, warlike nation with an economy largely based on oil, coal, and agriculture.

We would welcome the progressive blue states to join the united provinces of Canada eventually, as soon as our extrication from the American supply chains and ecosystems is complete and our switch to trade with global customers, who value our partnership, is secure.

The U.S. alleged โ€œNegotiationsโ€ with Putin are laughable to the free world, everyone knows the out come Russia wants is Crimea, Donbas and Zaporizija with no reparations no NATO no EU and no European Peace keepers in Ukrain (Maybe Hungarians) would be ok. Oh and forget about kidnapped children returns. Europe is now preparing for a war front stance to stair Putin down. He will back down because he knows he will loose.

Trump has been on all NATO alliesโ€™ cases to spend the recommended 2% of GDP on defence. He is going to be mighty disappointed and greatly put out, when they do and they donโ€™t spend a penny of it in America.

His goal was that America wasnโ€™t in the center of defence strategy for NATO, and what he will find is that by abdicating that position, they also abdicate leadership and relevance.

Based on growing aggression from the worldโ€™s superpowers, itโ€™s about time that we take charge of our own defence, form alliances and pacts, and recognize that, since the inception of the United Nations, itโ€™s been those nations who hold veto powers who are the ones we need to be wary of and prepare to defend ourselves from.

The Gripen is not a non starter for Canada, it came second in consideration behind the F-35, which also has one engine

I'm in a chat room full of acquisition nerds and I was surprised to learn they think it'll come down to Rafale vs ... Boeing F-15EX(!) Gripen came in #2 because they dinked with the rules to allow a single engine plane. Don't think they'll do that again.

I say let the USA figure this out, they might actually learn a valuable lesson when they find out just how little freedom they have under an authoritarian regime. My hope is Canada will recognize that it didnโ€™t just happen, it took decades of little by little brainwashing of people. It can happen ANYWHERE!
