Antigravity Is Trash
Infuriating interface failure.
Here’s a quick video of the most infuriating misfeature I’ve ever seen. I’m quite excited by the Google’s new Gemini 3 LLM and I had fairly good results playing with it in Antigravity. I spent a good six hours on it, decided to just move over from Claude Desktop/Code … and then reality struck.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m on the autism spectrum. I basically have no filter for the world - things that you wouldn’t even notice are intolerable distractions for me. Antigravity has one of those misfeatures. If you get a good sized body of text in a repository, say a design for a complex suite of software, spread across a dozen files, the LLM will start offering autocompletion.
Sounds helpful, right?
It’s not. If you type a few words, the LLM will autocomplete a couple lines worth of utter slop. The visual contrast between when you’ve written and the junk the LLM is offering is not great. Every time I type a few words, then look away at a terminal window or somewhere else, when I look back there’s this slop, which is well written and formatted English containing nouns related to what I was actually writing.
So instead of coming back to finish MY thought, I am forced to review this junk to figure out where I was, which disturbs what I had intended to write. Ever try to grocery shop with a tired, hungry toddler in tow? That’s what this feels like to me.
I am going to go do something else for a while, and if I don’t have some sudden inspiration on how to fix this when I return, Antigravity is dead to me. I enjoy writing, but trying to write with this makes me stabby in very short order.
I bet it’s not something I can disable. Every single thing I use online seems to have an eager “let me help you write that” AI assistant. I’m pretty far out on the flat part of the “does not need help composing something in English” bell curve, and all of these things can FROOAD as far as I’m concerned. Having on that is this intrusive plant itself right in the middle of my work environment?
That’s a hard NO from me, doesn’t require even an instant of thought.
