Memory jog is also a big use for me - it is great for stuff where you can check it. Trying to learn with it is ... perilous. Maybe if it had LLM plus a library of good coding books ...
I did back when, discovered that Xeon E5-26xx lack AVX2, which is why I retired all my HP Z[46]20 workstations and Dell R[46][12]0 rack mounts. Bought an R430, good deal just for the ram, but bad mainboard, and that set off a train of unfortunate events. The last surviving machine, sans drives, sits here just in case. The last large drives I have are here in a box, already wiped and getting shipped out this weekend.

Have you tried LM Studio? (Github itβs open source) lets you run LLMs locally.
