Why is crackpot Michael Shellenberger at this hearing?
We Are Not Alone back on May 30th was my determination on some of the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena that have been reported. Briefly, the performance characteristics of the objects captured by the upgraded F/A-18 radar in 2004 simply does not fit physics as we understand it. Objects that can outrun our current fighters, objects that can decelerate as rapidly as an artillery shell accelerates when its fired, objects that “blink” in and out of existence, objects that can transition from air to sea without a hint of a splash? These do not seem like advances to me, those are essentially miraculous physical manifestations.
A portion of this video is a recitation of past issues that have been resolved. The extraordinarily fast moving aircraft flying 30,000’ above the fighters of the time moving dramatically faster than they could? The SR-71 Blackbird. Black triangular objects doing nothing any more unusual than being triangular in shape? The F-117 Nighthawk. You could maybe explain the high speed aspect by invoking the seemingly mythical SR-72, but the other three aspects I named are inexplicable.
I’m a regular reader of Phys.org and I follow military acquisition news. There’s nothing I’ve seen in either that add up to the reported nature of the phenomena.
That being said, I’m with Ward Carroll on the Republican Congresswomen at this hearing being a pack of barking mad grandstanders. I would like to see some responsible adults digging into this, and that’s NOT what I’m seeing in this video. Giving the Trump administration will be in charge in a couple months, I can’t envision them doing anything except repeats of this, but maybe we’ll get some useful information in some of the reports that are released.
