I’m delighted to see Ukraine advancing - in the last 24 hours they’ve sunk some small patrol boats, hit and maybe sunk two ferries, one for cars, the other for rail, and it wasn’t clear what was happening with the Kerch strait bridge, but involved loud booms.
The hits on these long range radars are shaping the environment for the arrival of F-16s, but the primary duty for those installations is ballistic missile detection. Having survived Able Archer 83 the the Norwegian sounding rocket in 1995, I would prefer not to find out what’s behind door number three.
I hope Stanislav Petrov’s grandchildren are on duty somewhere, we may need them before this is over.
