The fall of the Assad regime has lead to tens of thousands of Syrians heading home. The Turkish textile industry is panicking over the loss of their work force. Some will commute back for work, but a portion will set up shop in northern Syria. This will be … OK. The Syrians will keep relationships in Turkey, the region will be more prosperous.
Contrast this with the United States, where we’re all but declaring war on our closest neighbors. Tariffs and expulsion of workers we can NOT replace isn’t a good move.
