Both the F-16 Falcon and the F-35 Fat Amy (donโt hate on me, thatโs what the Air Force/Navy pilots call it) are manufactured by Lockheed. We can now expect that in any conflict with Russia the U.S. will disarm our former allies. As I understand it, the F-16s need an intel feed to perform, and the F-35s wonโt work at all w/o U.S. inputs.
Who else made the mistake of buying American?
There are others, those are the big ones.
Fat Amyโs Dance Card
The F-35 overall is a mistake, similar to the last time Lockheed stuck it to the west with the F-104. Once a monopoly is achieved you can deliver a poor product slowly and itโs all good, because monopoly.
Alternatives:
Europe has three alternatives available to them. Theyโre all 4th Gen planes, but there wonโt be some Pete Hegseth fanboi turning off key features just when theyโre needed most.
Conclusion:
This is an extraordinarily complex, multilayered problem and I am just a knowledgeable spectator. The defense world understood immediately, look at what started as soon as Trumpโs election became likely.
Dassault and Saab have stock charts, the Eurofighter is a conglomerate, harder to track.
No country will purchase American weapons in the future, This will be a great boon to European and South Korean weapon's manufacturers
