This quarter is proving to be insanely busy right out of the gate. I basically have two full time things to do, both of which Iâm waiting for my pipeline to fill, so thereâs no revenue yet. I think both are viable, but itâs uncomfortable af not being sure how to pay November rent. So Iâm not having much time to write, but this morning I was cleaning up and I found a curation effort from August that might interest you guys.
One of the topics of discussion that month was AI Psychosis, and that link leads to a dropbox with thirty PDFs I collected on the subject. I am not sure how I first noticed Futurism but they had great coverage. They got added to my zoo of an Inoreader setup, but instead of using its built in article to PDF function, I manually opened each, used JustRead to get a clean view, and then saved them.
Once I had the PDFs I used Parabeagle, my highly modified fork of Chromaâs MCP server, to load them up so Claude Desktop could produce the summary that follows this article. Yes, it says 83 documents - thatâs a Chroma thing, a given PDF may be interpreted as multiple documents, but there are only 30 PDF files.

AI for me has been a search engine, then a programming intern, and it makes a pretty good doctor, once you put a BUNCH of guardrails around it. Now that Iâve got Parabeagle itâs becoming a trustworthy research assistant.
There as the second article points out, a stochastic parrot is NOT a friend, or a therapist, or a lover. A friend will call if you seem really out of sorts, and theyâll call you on bullshit self importance. A therapist requires in person visits and sends a bill. Forming a bond with someone when there isnât an executable plan that leads to spooning is just not ever gonna happen for me, let alone going down that path with a machine.
The mechanism for AI psychosis seems, at least to my life-experienced but untrained mind, to be a whole lot like problem gambling. There are twelve step groups for that. There are some medical advances in the field, but I donât think thereâs a pill for it yet. Acute problems require hospitalization. If youâre standing on that slippery slope, but not yet dodging guys hold one of those hug yourself jackets, you have to find a way to unplug. As a child of the eighties I realize âJust Say Noâ is just a slogan. But that really seems to be the only way out - stop treating the machine like a demigod and find some actual humans to talk to instead.
