Replacing Russian Gauge Rail
THE problem for the Baltic countries.
The current Baltic rail network is 5’ gauge and it was built as part of the Soviet network. They need 4’ 8 1/2” European rail connecting them directly to Poland. Once that is done they can easily receive reinforcements from the rest of NATO and evacuate people in the event of an attack.
It’s bogged down, European style. Hopefully the urgency of the problem will get everyone moving in concert.
