Not only did I get my Maltego license covered, you guys pitched in on some much needed housewarming around here.
This new place I got at the start of the month β¦ mold also :-( Not nearly as bad as the one I just departed, which got moved up in the remodel queue, but still pretty grim. Luckily the conditions here have been amenable to my anti-mold skills.
This place has nice laminate floors everywhere except one flight of stairs, so easy to keep clean, but there were a LOT of other issues. I brought two Holmes HEPA filters with me and I made a big mistake previously - see the lack of official AER1 badges on those purple filter cartridges? Theyβre the same color as the top of the line 0.3 micron model, but performance wise β¦ they seem like maybe theyβre 3.0 micron, or worse. These knock offs will run all night and not accomplish what a proper 0.3 micro filter will do in ten or fifteen minutes.
So I swapped in this green (allergy) AER1 that came with a new machine - I had kept it as a spare, thinking it less capable than the purple particle eaters. Sometimes I get things right purely by accident.
And I got more of the good stuff on order just in time for fire season to kick off β¦ Iβm really worried what tariffs are going to do here, so I stocked up a bit. The official AER1 purple 0.3 micron are not available, but I got a pair of the green (allergy) 0.3 micro and I decided I would try this odor remover for the kitchen area. Once the dust settles, metaphorically speaking, I will probably order two or three additional green, and I suppose another yellow one, if the first works as needed. Itβs only 1.0 micron, wonβt be as effective on smoke, but it WILL deal swiftly with odors.
The dryer hose was ripped and venting into the laundry room. I had to do some surgery with tools borrowed from a neighbor, but a $10 replacement flex hose not only closed this up, I can now pull the machine out to clean behind it when needed.
I looked everywhere and there were no visible signs of mold β¦ then I noticed THIS.
The water heater exhaust was just venting to the attic, the exhaust stack is misaligned. This area of the house is going to get a LOT of remodel attention, so I just taped it up, then used some thin styrofoam insulation to isolate the attic hatch until it can be addressed properly.
The former residents β¦ I dunno β¦ not drugs, but there was something going on with them. The utter lack of spoons in this house combined with the amount of trash makes me think they were banging fentanyl or something, but the other signs of opiate abuse are lacking. They did take a body out of here, but it was quite a while back, and the nature of the demise was not Narcan deficit disorder. Anyway, no spoons, no oatmeal in the morning, and trouble just radiates out from there. So I splurged β¦
So thatβs that, Iβm relocated, this place isnβt perfect, but Iβm hoping it can be made ready before fire season begins in earnest. There are imminent life changes for the remaining residents, which may get me out of this cupboard under the stairs, and into a spacious second floor mother in lawβs apartment that does not need a remodel.
Kitteh and I will be able to spread out in peace and quiet β¦ and then I can put in more work on this Maltego graph β¦ before anyone else looses precisely $6,900 out of their Paypal account. They keep it well under the $7,500 loss that would raise this activity to federal attention, and they really deserve a slot in Chew Toys.
