Just a quick talk here about Kali Linux, a security focused distro that might be right for you, if youβre new to Linux.
The only time I use Kali is when thereβs some complex security tool in it that I donβt already use and I just want to see if itβs something suitable for a given problem. As a demonstration of how little I do in this area, I was aware of BackTrack as a pentesting distro and mentioned it in the video β¦ but thatβs the old name for Kali, now ten years gone.
Iβm using it these days as I describe in the video - Iβm doing some new things, sampling some new tools, and itβs nice to just have it there ready to run so I can get some hands on and decide if I want to go to the trouble of installing it on an Ubuntu VM.
The shell config drives me to distraction, adding services is much more fiddly than it should be, and Iβve never tried to do network tricks with it like I do with VirtualBox and Ubuntu.
But if you just wanna put tool XYZ to work RIGHT NOW, this might be a good choice for you.
