Edging Towards Violence

Bad policy, bad optics, and it'll get worse.

One of every thirteen Angelinos are undocumented. LAPD and the Los Angeles county sheriff’s department won’t assist in pursuing them; they learned their lesson in 1992 and will not risk setting the county aflame. Their focus is purely criminal activity as defined in state and local statutes.

These large paramilitary raids are not about cartel members, they’re about cuckold Stephen Miller pressing ICE for more arrests, no matter the merit. This is how an Australian police officer married to a U.S. Army officer was repeatedly sexually assaulted under the guise of “cavity search”. This is how a backpacking British tourist spent weeks in ICE custody over some minor paperwork problem. This is how a German tourist spent a week in solitary confinement.

And there will come a day, perhaps later this summer, after the temperature crosses that physiologically important 92F barrier, when the ambulances will be rolling back to the hospital without lights or sirens. There’s no need to rush for the person in back if they have a white sheet over their face.

Then come the riots, the unstoppable involvement of Los Angeles law enforcement, the California National Guard, and pressure from D.C. for a federal presence in order to assume control due to a mess they intentionally created.
