If you are going to a protest DO NOT TAKE YOUR PHONE.
DONโT
Your device will get picked up by a Stringray. The devices in proximity to you will get picked up by Stingray. And your life will unravel from there.
This video offers a tiny improvement - you can keep your passcode secret, but a thumb print or face recognition? Nope, no 4th Amendment protection, you are HAD immediately.
You really should have a burner phone, but if you just randomly leave it on around home and call people with it and such โฆ youโd be protected against civil stuff and nitwit cyberstalkers, thatโs NOT going to protect you from anything serious.
So if you simply MUST take your phone, disable fingerprint, disable face ID, and then put it in a Faraday bag. $25 for a bag, or $250 an hour for a lawyer. This was not a complex calculation for me.
Thereโs some additional good information in Keeping A Burner Phone - but these are disciplines you needed to adopt months ago, you canโt quickie do it this morning before you run off to a No Kings protest.
I shudder to think what people are blundering into here โฆ at least it is a whole of society thing, with some 1,800(!) scheduled events.
