Captain Coprolite & Turdboy

Election season is here and psychopaths are circulating.

I have previously written at length about the various failure modes of humans that form irregular groups and there is a summary of those posts in Informantspotting.

There is a situation shaping up now where a person who is a Dark Triad psychopath is engaged in attention seeking behavior, which is itself wholly unremarkable. I’m paying attention, low key observer style, because it appears the framework for a malign influence operation.

It was useful to me back in the day to read some FBI profiling stuff on such people. A normal, principled individual may have great trouble in recognizing what a Dark Triad has done, is doing in the moment, or what they could do next.

Let’s have a bit of a look at literature and talk about patterns.

Attention Conservation Notice:

This is some activism tempered criminology based on my own experiences. If you instinctively recognize and easily avoid people like this, maybe just skim in case you need to refer someone else to it.

Reading:

I ran out of storage on Disinfodrome a while ago and one of the victims of the need for more space was the Open Semantic Search instance that indexes my personal stuff. I can’t find the paper I read back when, but I just did a Google search and the FBI’s Focus on Psycopathy looks very familiar.

Dark Triads have some common characteristics.

• Narcissism - they have a compulsion to be the center of attention.

• Machiavellianism - they are not just manipulative, they actively enjoy it.

• Psychopathology - a cluster of negative personal characteristics.

Psychopathy: An Important Forensic Concept for the 21st Century offers an expanded view and a nice table of attributes.

Keep in mind that psychopathy is a spectrum disorder, and the well adjusted can be very successful. One example of where these traits are of great benefit to society are trauma surgeons. They lead very exciting work lives, spectacular ego is the norm, and the ability to coldly assess a situation rather than emotionally evaluating it permits them to act swiftly, when others might freeze entirely.

The clustering of interpersonal failings and anisocial tendencies, combined with the stimulation junkie lifestyle leads to an attribute that can be positive or negative: Dark Triads are often capable of “bold action”. This can make them leaders, at least at first, and then losers over the long haul.

Additional Traits:

There were several things in the initial paper I read that have really stayed with me.

The psychopath’s pathological lying isn’t a strategy, it’s a compulsion. They get a rise out of deceiving others and will do so when simply telling the truth would better serve their objectives in the moment.

The lack of realistic goals can be truly extreme. The example in the first paper involved a kidnapping that went badly. The victim was shot in a serious, but non-fatal fashion, and stuffed into the trunk of a car. When the ransom demand was made and refused, the kidnapper had no alternative plan, simply leaving the victim to die in the trunk.

The Language of Psychopaths is about the internal state and decision making process of psychopaths. You can sometimes pick up on this via social media, unless you’ve got an extreme method actor who never breaks character.

I should have said this sooner and it needs emphasis: people sometimes mix the words and concepts for psychopaths with those meant for the psychotic. Psychosis is a departure from consensus objective reality. This break with the real world is an adult and childhood disorder in the DSM V, but the childhood diagnosis may be badly off base. Something like one in six teens will have periods where their world view qualifies as psychotic, and this does not always correlate with future trouble. It may simply be an unusual, disquieting developmental path to a normal adulthood.

Hacker/Troll Realm Specifics:

How does this personality disorder fit into the hacktivist world? Big picture: pre-compromised “useful idiots” for whatever malign actor has the time/money/operators to steer them into wrecking cohesion and a sense of purpose.

Their delight in duping others make them natural vehicles for disinformation campaigns, but with a bias towards smearing people, as opposed to making trouble in terms of a larger narrative. If positioned appropriately they can carry the ball for a larger mission, but only if the counter-narrative becomes part of their own grandiose view of self.

Anonymous was a really interesting case study in this. The relentless destructive activity aimed at anyone identified as being involved was the bit of adaptive behavior that made the subculture so dangerous. Those who contributed to the prestige of “the hive” were lionized, but if their name became known, the digital crab bucket of competition among those producing “the lulz” would immediately use them for target practice.

The natural faults of those who did become visible drove the rapid disempowerment of the big picture meme of Anonymous as a global change agent. That which rose with Arab Spring, beginning in late 2010, made a very hard landing concurrent with the end of the Occupy encampments in the spring of 2012. There was some activity in relation to Black Lives Matter, but by then it was just a side show.

NAFO, a meme similar to Anonymous in many ways, had a specific, focused raison d'être, some methods that kept knuckleheads at bay, and it benefited greatly from an early seizure by military/intel forces, as opposed to law enforcement. Military folk with irregular warfare background know precisely what to do with aggressive local partisans, and intel operators seek out those who can steer the action in an organized fashion. The law has no mode of interacting with social movements beyond ruining anyone who shows a spark of leadership.

There has been a thin but steady stream of attempts to merge the tattered Anonymous assets from back when with the new, energetic NAFO world. The cultural mismatch, combined with old hands who know the history from the early 2010s, and the desire to protect effective groups of irregulars, have kept this a thing that has not been particularly effective.

The are NAFO working groups that have become badly degraded by the extended deployment with no downtime to reinvent themselves. There was an inflection point last October, an attempt to revive the “AnonHamas” as a derivative meme. I don’t think they had a lot of luck conjuring the anti-colonial vibe, given the reason for Israel’s incursion into Gaza in the first place.

Issue Du Jour:

There are periodic events where individuals in that world are found to be trafficking CSAM - Child Sexual Abuse Material. This happened with the guy who provided infrastructure for the reboot of Encyclopedia Dramatica when the founder sought to rebrand it. There was a self styled military whistle blower who was finally deprived of his support in that world with a gotcha after his grooming of underage boys became subject to court proceedings.

Those are the two I can recall being close enough to observe as their respective downfalls happened. I know there were others, I just pay little attention to anything in that area, due to the prevalence of pedo-smearing.

This is a low energy problem in 2024, but I suspect it’s going to escalate for a variety of reasons, the primary one being this article on DDoSecrets cofounder Thomas White being the most recently revealed hybrid hacker/kiddie fiddler. DDoSecrets is the natural loyal successor to Russian agent Wikileaks, and the other cofounder, Emma Best, is trans. White was promptly expelled back in 2019 when his depraved nature became apparent, and 404 Media has this story because Emma made it available in order to distance the the organization from him. Even so …

But given Heritage Foundation’s recent rough handling by Gay Wolf Furries, it’s not hard to see where the energy behind this has originated. DDoSecrets is not even in receipt of the liberated data as far as I know, but the American right has PTSD from the treatment they received in 2021. During the first three quarters of the year Parler, Gab, Gettr, Oath Keepers, the Texas GOP, and Truth.Social all felt the sting of a reinvigorated Anonymous node, and that data DID make its way to DDoSecrets.. The most dangerous intrusions from that time, the Epik registrar, and mailing list operator Political Media Inc. are likely still paying dividends for anyone willing to work the available data.

Fucktard Du Jour:

Set against that background, there’s a washed up handler hag in Florida in her early sixties who’s been trying to pivot from Anonymous era cred to some sort of foothold in NAFO. I won’t name check her, because washed up, but I did give her file to the Canine Intelligence Agency. Although not specifically Anonymous, but of the same time period, the persona I dubbed Individual None got trotted out late last year, and also qualifies for the “drag without naming” procedure. And there’s been a steady drizzle of less notables trying stuff, to which I have uniformly sent people who’ve asked me about them to read the Individual None piece, and other work that can be summarized as “ignore bullshit personas”.

Now that would-be smear organizers are scraping the bottom of the barrel, they really needed a person rather than a persona, and they’ve got themselves a coprolite dated 2012, which they’re trying to use for shitposting. One of the characteristics of Dark Triads are that they are never responsible for the bad results that flow from their bad behavior. In this instance Captain Coprolite is stuck, in a fashion similar to DDoSecrets, trying to shake off Turdboy, an admitted informant with a sort of sex offender back story. They were a dynamic duo for a while, running a podcast together, and there were associated Signal rooms. They let someone in who was on pretrial release for computer crimes, which means their phone and computer were provided to them and monitored by law enforcement. The Captain has decamped to a foreign country, but he faced a deportation hearing there, and the crown prosecutor let slip that he faces a sealed indictment here in the U.S.

Captain Coprolite’s extraordinary failure in judgment in letting Turdboy trail behind him was bad enough, but being so lax as to let that other guy with a monitored phone join spaces where there was planning happening … this is how Dark Triads destroy social movements. The need for narcissistic supply will exceed the bounds of good operating procedure every single time, even if the price of a single day of petite acclamation is a sizable chunk of a decade behind bars.

Conclusion:

The Captain periodically publicly blames me … for the loss of five years of his life to the federal prison system … for things he himself instigated. As near as I can make out, I’m responsible … because I had the foresight to know what was coming and I made a pointed effort to warn him off his self destructive path the previous year.

This is pretty ballsy on his part, given that he has made public conversations he was having with one of the people mentioned in my Dallas FBI field office OIG complaint, wherein he sought to sell me out in exchange for them leaving him alone.

Sounds preposterous, doesn’t it? But the combination of Dark Triad character disorder and a dramatic mismatch in resources between humans and corporations facilitates stuff like this. I’ve got the receipts, but some bench warmer operator, perhaps similar in nature to that washed up handler hag, is trying to bootstrap this into an attack on Emma & DDoSecrets. I find it absolutely sublime that they’ve run hard aground on the creep Captain Coprolite had as his trusted lieutenant.

I do not feel any urge to be Filing A Conjunction here, given the numerous, bad tempered DDoSecrets partisans already on the case. However … if this gets stupid enough, and stays stupid enough long enough, I might just have to pull out folder full of documents and a truly hilarious recording that is in my possession.

Hopefully that won’t be needed. I prefer to let the caustic, pressurized environment of the internet naturally degrade this namefag and his pet dingleberry to dust.

CODA:

James “Pissboy” McGibney has a cluster B personality disorder, but he very much seems to be a Vulnerable Dark Triad, or he has a mix of histrionic behavior as well as narcissism. His personal back story also supports the notion that he might be one of those relatively rare male Borderline Personality Disorder victims. My original attorney described him as “fawning” during an encounter where he and his attorney were speaking to mine. Future murder victim Thomas Retzlaff was in attendance at that event, Pissboy trailed him to just outside the courthouse doors, and then engaged in an attempt to get Retzlaff to take a swing at him. The whole vibe was very much “crazy ex girlfriend”.

My precedent setting 1st Amendment case, Rauhauser v. McGibney, is in Texas. Pissboy himself came to reside there for the first time some years after filing his frivolous claims. Captain Coprolite was a target of the Dallas FBI field office, serving time in the Texas federal prison system, and Turdboy is also a Texas resident. Part of writing this is ensuring there’s a one stop shop for anyone who might be contemplating participation in Captain Coprolite’s “research” operation, or Pissboy’s current effort at framing credulous “anti-bullying activists”, or whomever could be unknowingly drinking from the punch bowl where Turdboy currently floats.
